Gillis’ Drive-In

I thought I was viewing a movie set when I stumbled upon Gillis' 60's style Drive In Restaurant in Montague, one of Canada's last car hop services. It was a nostalgic scene, but modern cars spoiled the view. I returned at dawn with an empty lot but faced the sun rising silhouetting the drive-in. Using a remote flash to highlight the front I adjusted the exposure and captured the perfect shot just as the sun rose over the sign. Editing later, I was pleased with the results, which inspired me to pursue more sunrise photography.

It's not every day I come across an opportunity to photograph a scene that speaks of days gone by. Do you remember your favorite drive-in? Add this to your home or office décor and share the memories.
