Tree Swallows at a nesting box.

I always enjoy their aerial acrobatics of tree swallows flying high above fields and marshes in pursuit of flying insects. I am drawn to these moments where the bird’s sleek form and quick movements echo the life and energy found in open, grassy landscapes.

This photograph captures the grace and vitality of tree swallows at a nesting box. Cavity-nesting birds like Tree Swallows, that can’t make their own cavities, can face a shortage of nest sites.  Tree swallows readily adapt to nest boxes placed in open areas like fields and pastures near water.

I invite viewers to experience the beauty and resilience of tree swallows and reflect on the subtle connections between wildlife and stewardship of our shared environments.
