The Holland Marsh has always captivated me with its sweeping landscapes—endless rows of onions and carrots etched across the black earth, a living testament to a century of agricultural ingenuity. This portrait of onions is emblematic of the marsh’s legacy. This image celebrate not only the bounty of the land but also the unseen labor, knowledge, and community that sustain it. Through vibrant colors and honest compositions, I hope to honor the land’s enduring spirit and the nourishment it provides for generations.
I was pleased to have this print (one of two) featured in the juried exhibit - Holland Marsh Centennial Art Contest. This exhibit is part of a year-long celebration of the 100th Anniversary of The Holland Marsh. The art show was presented by the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library in partnership with the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury and the South Simcoe Arts Council.
